As part of the “Passionswege - Vienna Design Week 2012” Valentin Vodev developed a system of symbols and pictograms capable of communicating with Lobmeyr glasses. They convey information and appear like a set of instructions or an ironic statement. Engraved on existing glasses, they create a visual appeal that goes beyond the usual interpretation and radically changes the contemporary perception of what a glass is. A Picnic-Bicycle-Trailer was realized in cooperation with designunlimited.gmbh and supported by the traditional Viennese company Backhausen, which provided the Art Nouveau fabric from Koloman Moser and Josef Hoffmann. The company Fachwerk GmbH (The Austrian Relief Organization for Persons with Disabilities) manufactured several of the components made out of wickerware. The project was presented together with the new project "SmartFixie" bike at Backhausen's showroom during the "Long Night of Museums" in Vienna. SmartFixie, the eBike-Fixie.Style, is a collaboration with graphic designer Mario Suppan.
Vienna Bike, a project funded by Impulse/AWS, was exhibited at “Everyday Discoveries” as part of an event for the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012. A mini world design exhibition is taking over Suvilahti! “Everyday Discoveries” is unique in its comprehensive presentation of international design. The exhibition showed designs, ideas and concepts from more than 20 countries. Its underlying theme was: day-to-day life – what is it like in the participating countries, and what kind of solutions to certain everyday situations have people come up with in the different countries? SUPERSTUDIO PIU invited Vodev to design two bikes for the Temporary Museum of New Design, which was showcased there together with Vienna Bike. To see some images press on the image above.
ZONA BRERA in the heart of the City at La Pelota with the most " raw & delicate " Austrian design - an exhibition organized by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. Vodev exhibited a new project named "Victoria" produced by the Austrian company designunlimited.gmbh and supported by the traditional Viennese company Backhausen with the use of Art Nouveau fabric from Koloman Moser and Josef Hoffmann. Additionally the company Fachwerk GmbH (The Austrian Organization for persons with disabilities) manufactured several components made of wickerware. For the third time in a row, Valentin Vodev won the 16th International Bicycle Design Award. This time with Vienna Bike. The award ceremony was held at the Taipei Cycle Show, one of the biggest fair for cyclists worldwide. .
Vienna Bike nominated for the Climate Change Prize (Klimaschutzpreis). Broadcasted on Austrian National TV (ORF).
